What is a Divorce Coach?

Divorce coaching is a non‑adversarial, goal‑oriented support service that helps individuals regulate emotions, clarify goals, organize information, and communicate more effectively during divorce and post‑decree matters. It does not provide legal advice or therapy and DOES NOT replace attorneys, mediators, or judicial decision‑making.

The American Bar Association recognizes divorce coaching as a complementary Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) resource, particularly when emotional conflict interferes with resolution.

Can anybody be a Divorce Coach? What kind of Standards and Training do Divoce Coaches have?

Courts, attorneys and parties  are encouraged to use only properly trained divorce coaches who:

  • Maintain clear scope‑of‑practice boundaries
  • Adhere to ethical standards and confidentiality requirements
  • Collaborate      appropriately with legal and court professionals

Lisa Fears is A CDC Certified Divorce Coach® and has completed structured, divorce‑specific education through the Certified Divorce Coach® Board of Standards.

At Lisa Fears and Associates, Divoece Coaching compliments the team you have in place to manage your divorce and can help you keep everything organized and prepared.

**Indiana courts routinely encourage ADR processes under the Indiana Rules for Alternative Dispute Resolution, and divorce coaching aligns with those objectives.

What Divorce Coaching Is Not!

  • A Divorce Coach will not   give legal advice
  • A Divorce Coach is not   not a mediator
  • A Divorce Coach is not   not a therapist
  • A Divorce Coach is not   not a parenting coordinator
  • A Divorce Coach is not   not a substitute for court authority, the Judge or your Attorney
